Situated between party walls, with one facade embracing the street and the other partially enveloped by an industrial edifice, this project epitomizes the art of adaptive reuse.
Urban Integration
In a quest to harness natural light, NUA Arquitectures embarks on a journey of spatial transformation, maximizing openness to illuminate every nook of the café. The urban facade dissolves boundaries, extending its section to create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor realms. By unveiling the existing concrete porches, the intervention delineates three distinct zones: the garden, the dining area, and the kitchen.
Welcoming Garden Oasis
The entrance beckons visitors into a verdant sanctuary, bridging the gap between the bustling street and the café’s heart. Adorned with a textile ceiling resembling a festive marquee or a pergola, this transitional space exudes relaxation. Custom furniture and lush foliage imbue a sense of serenity, while metallic entrance frames serve as multifunctional elements, doubling as benches and tables.
Central Dining Hub
At the core of the café lies a communal table, a hub for gathering and camaraderie. Alongside, a bench flanked by tables offers a more secluded dining experience. Opposite, a service counter seamlessly blends into the party wall, ensuring efficiency without compromising on aesthetics.
Culinary Haven
The rear bay houses the open kitchen, restrooms, and utilities, completing the trifecta of culinary delight. Concrete structures and wooden frames punctuate the space, infusing it with an air of versatility and transparency. With a permeable facade that extends outward, the café adapts effortlessly to accommodate diverse activities, from casual dining to culinary exploration.
