By The Deep Gray Apartment, envisioned by Azovskiy&Pahomova architects, serves as a testament to the beauty found in minimalism and the appreciation for concise living. Designed for a family with two children, the project aimed to create a comfortable living space while adhering to minimalist principles.
Functional Minimalism
The clients’ desires were clear: they sought a comfortable yet minimalist home where functionality took precedence. Initially, the apartment presented a blank canvas, devoid of partitions but punctuated by columns that needed integration into the design.
Embracing Raw Elements
Azovskiy&Pahomova architects embraced the raw elements of the space, including the concrete ceiling and columns, opting not to conceal or embellish them. Instead, these structural elements were left exposed, contributing to the apartment’s character. Where necessary, veneered wood panels and plasterboard ceilings were used to conceal wiring while maintaining the integrity of the design.
Openness and Charisma
The resulting layout is functionally non-standard, with two-thirds of the apartment left open. The hallway, characterized by its charisma, features a separate dressing room concealed from view. The structural design of the transit zone adds rhythm, aligning with the placement of doors. The children’s bedroom, designed as a voluminous play area, features custom-designed beds and vibrant colors that set a playful mood.
Unified Mood and Expression
Azovskiy&Pahomova architects meticulously crafted much of the apartment’s interior according to their sketches, ensuring a unified mood and freedom of expression throughout. The common area, comprising the living room and kitchen, is delineated by a storage system that serves as both a visual anchor and a functional element.
Delicate Balance
The design balances delicate and hard elements, incorporating burnt wood accents and mint-colored textiles to add warmth and visual interest. The master bedroom, tucked behind a partition, features mint bed linen that serves as a focal point within the serene interior.
Unique Solutions
In the kitchen, unique solutions abound, including an open hood connection with bottom illumination, offering both convenience and aesthetic appeal. These thoughtful design choices culminate in a space that exudes comfort, functionality, and understated elegance.
