Design Concept and Client Preferences
Commissioned by a young family, Sala Squadra Arquitetura & Interiores was tasked with designing a single-story house that embodies minimalism while maximizing natural light, ventilation, and integration with outdoor spaces. The clients sought a timeless aesthetic and the use of durable materials.
Structural Ingenuity: Metal Construction
A defining feature of the Petrus House is its metal structure construction, which adds a sense of lightness and minimalism to the design. The flat roof design allowed for slim metal beams, fulfilling the project’s vision of sleekness and modernity.
Thoughtful Layout and Spatial Organization
Through meticulous studies of the site’s topography and solar incidence, an L-shaped layout emerged. The social and service areas occupy one level, while the guest suite and children’s suites are located on a slightly elevated level connected by a ramp. This thoughtful arrangement maximizes space efficiency and creates a seamless flow between different areas of the house.
Integration of Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
The social area of the Petrus House opens up to the east, offering panoramic views of the leisure area. A large stone wall on the western side provides privacy and serves as an elegant backdrop for the front facade. A suspended volume of burnt cement adds visual interest and protects the living room from the afternoon sun.
Harmony in Material Selection
Stone and wooden cladding adorn the front facade, infusing warmth and character into the design. Tecnocimento, a polymeric cement coating, was chosen for the flooring of the social and service areas, as well as the bathrooms, ensuring durability and visual consistency throughout the house.
